Ms. Vasquez

Ms. Chastity Vasquez — known to students as Ms. V — is a School Counselor whose entire philosophy is built on honesty, resilience, and preparing students for the reality of the world beyond BCHS. She comes to counseling through an extraordinary path: a background in the medical field, teaching, management, business administration, and goal-setting — and she has three college degrees earned with honors, including a scholarship to St. John's University. What students might not expect is that Ms. Vasquez attended two middle schools and four high schools before dropping out — which is precisely what makes her able to meet students exactly where they are. She is transparent, determined, and always working. Students can rely on her for structure, guidance, and time management — and they learn quickly that she is, in her own words, "complicated but beneficial." Her reminder to scholars is one she takes seriously: "Only you are responsible for what you do with the time you're given and the results of your decisions." She believes teenagers succeed when adults tell them the hard truth — and then follow up with real support.
